It’s the start of another semester.
I knew I was going to like it when we were given our first design project. We were to create anything visual and our task was to describe any person in a hundred ways. I knew I had the perfect person for it, Pat, without a doubt.
I stepped inside her room, a place where I’ve been so many times before but I still am in awe. There are a lot of times when I think she isn’t aware of the talent she possesses so when I can, I tell her.

Pat is (secretly) one of my best friends. There are times when I feel that she is, even if we only have been friends for a year. I remember the first time we talked, we were both in her car at the back seat. I knew it was going to be an awkward first meeting but we never had silent breaks. We always had and still have something to say to one another. There are times when we’re with each other and we don’t say anything at all but it’s okay since we’re satisfied with the silence.
Our friendship can run on that great factor of assurance that we will always understand each other. Even if we feel worthless, unappreciated, broken-hearted we have each other to assure one another that it isn’t true. It is those days that I appreciate the most, when I know I will never be alone because I have her to tell me that everything will be alright and the truth is, it is, it will be. I just need that reassurance and I get that from her.
I can probably describe Pat in more than a hundred ways but I’m too lazy to write that so here are five things: It’s easy to tell when she’s happy and when she’s upset. You can easily read it on her face. She has this certain glow and it lights up whenever you see her genuine happiness. She is easily one of the most awkward people I have ever met, and she can also be the most awkward person you will ever meet in your life. We laugh at how socially inept she is but the truth is, she has this capability to socialize and be friendly, only if she sees your sincerity and that you mean well. She gives off this vibe that she’s a snob but she is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Although, there are times when you won’t really feel it, she is. She’s just not used to showing how affectionate she really is.
Now I have lost count. But there is one thing for sure. I love Pat and I will forever be grateful that God has given me a friend like her. And stating 100 observations is not enough to show her how much I do.
“Our friendship can run on that great factor of assurance that we will always understand each other.”
When you find someone who doesn’t judge you even at your worst, someone who doesn’t get off the roller coaster ride that is your life despite its ups and downs, when you find that person who has true and sincere intentions, that person who makes you want to be better in all aspects— those are rare people. So if and when you finally find them, keep them. Thank you Elisaaaaa >:D<
